What is an escape room?

Escape rooms are a unique form of entertainment. They place players against series of themed puzzles in a room. These players must use elements of the room to find clues and escape the room within 60 minutes. Our escape rooms focus on players exploring, discovering, and connecting with their team.

How much does it cost?

Price varies based on number of players. Our price guarantees you and your team are the ONLY players participating. You won't be placed with players you haven't met before. Sales tax is included in our pricing. Larger groups pay less per person. Visit our facebook page for current promotions and discount options.
Our pricing schedule is as follows:
2: $36/person
3: $36/person
4: $33/person
5: $28/person
6: $28/person
Please also be aware that Fox in a Box is a live event, so once the booking is confirmed, refunds and cancellations are not accepted. We allow games to be rescheduled. We accept all major credit cards, PayPal and exact change on site. We also validate parking at Tyndall Garage during the weekdays after 5pm.

Why should I try your escape room?

Our escape room experience is the highest quality in Tucson. Our location is specifically built to accommodate our two themed escape rooms, and they take weeks of perfecting and planning. Every part of the room and each puzzle are carefully thought out to make you and your team feel immersed in the adventure of the room! We are also locally owned and support local Tucson businesses. Our location is also highly convenient for players, due to it being directly on University Blvd. The University of Arizona is right next door, in addition to shopping, restaurants and night life!

Will I be doing this room with strangers?

Nope! Our reservation system ensures that only your group will be in the room for the scheduled time. If you reserve a room at noon for 3 people, only those 3 people will be allowed in the room. We do not sell additional tickets for your reserved time slot.

What time do I need to arrive?

Please arrive to your game anywhere from 5-15 minutes early (for example, if your game is scheduled at 3pm, all members should arrive promptly at 2:45-2:55pm). Each game lasts 60 minutes, but the entire experience is 80-90 minutes long. We need 10 minutes before each game to go over the instructions. We will call your team 5 minutes before your start time to ensure your players arrive on time. If you do not arrive 10 minutes after your start time, the game will start without you, and you will be REQUIRED to reschedule. Games cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the original appointment time will be charged $25.00 during their next visit. We do this because of scheduling discrepancies. For example, if you cancel your game an hour before your appointment, it only gives the public an hour to book that recently opened slot. A short notice reschedule prevents other teams from reserving an open slot.

Team sizes

Team sizes can be between 2 to 6 players. Generally, smaller team sizes take longer to solve the puzzles. Larger teams may solve the puzzles faster because more people are available to search for clues. We recommend team sizes of 3 to 5 players. We do not allow more than 6 people to play each game at a time. We limit team sizes because our puzzles are designed for up to 6 players. Escape rooms that allow more than 6 players tend to give a crowded experience for players, and often not enough puzzles for each player to interact with. We limit our games to 6 players to ensure everyone feels comfortable and excited to be involved in the game.

Accessibility and special requirements

Our rooms are designed with accessibility in mind. People with disabilities can fully enjoy our games. We are on the second floor with elevator access. There are no physical challenges demanded of the players. Lastly, there are no jump scares or gruesome scenes. Seats are readily made available in the room if a player needs to rest for a while. There are some puzzles that are located above 4 feet. There are color recognition puzzles in our rooms. If you have further questions, feel free to contact us at the bottom of the page.

What if I have more than 6 people who want to play?

That's great! Groups larger than 6 people will be required to split into appropriately sized teams (2-6). We do not allow more than 6 people per team, due to our puzzle design and to ensure each player has a great experience. For groups larger than 6, please call Fox in a Box Tucson (520-488-4393) to schedule times for your teams. We will also adjust the price to $28 per person.

Are players really locked in the rooms?

No. We have no locks on our game doors. Fox in a Box has taken the live escape room experience to the next level. You need to complete the room goal within 60 minutes, but the main door will be unlocked the whole time. Individuals can enjoy our games and leave at any time if needed. Players can also exit the game at any time, if needed.

Special events (birthday parties, proposals, corporate team building, etc)

Fox in a Box is an excellent choice for all special events! Players have fun, work together and communicate well in order to overcome problems. Fox in a Box Tucson is cost effective, engaging and adventurous! Email us to find out more about how we can customize your special event!

How to get to us?

We are located in Main Gate Square at 972 E University Blvd, Tucson, Arizona 85719. Look for our A frame sign on University Blvd in order to find our location! Public transport: The Tucson Street Car stops close by, at Stop 15. Walk east on the south side of the street and look for our A Frame sign. Parking is available in the Tyndall Street Garage where we validate parking for vehicles after 5 PM on weekdays. Metered Parking is also available on University Blvd at $2/hour with a two hour limit. Free parking spots are available around campus after 9 PM and on all day on the weekends.

Why can't we split the prices?

To ensure proper booking and pricing for players, we only accept one lump payment per game through online booking. That leaves splitting the cost up to the players. To help, we've provided a list of resources that make transferring money easier: Google Wallet, Apple Pay, Android Pay, Paypal, or cash! If you buy your tickets in person (at Fox in a Box Tucson), we are able to split the prices for you.

Are the rooms and games scary?

A majority of players feel our games are not scary. The rooms are immersive, and are intended to be mysterious, not horror focused. For example, the Zombie Lab does have an apocalyptic feel but there are no zombies or jump scares. As always, if players feel uncomfortable during the game, they are welcome to exit. Pick whichever game you feel most comfortable with.

How should I prepare?

No special tools are needed. Escape rooms often have written riddle puzzles, so if you require reading glasses, we encourage that you bring them. We recommend that you and your team dress comfortably, as you will be walking through the room and exploring. Since the game requires you to solve logical puzzles, we highly encourage players to not be under the influence. Lastly, prepare to have fun!

Can we walk-in and buy tickets?

Yes! We have a great location next to the U of A, and you're always welcome to stop by and reserve your game in person! If you already have your team together (2-6 people) you're also welcome to walk in and play a game if that time slot is open! 12pm is the earliest walk in time slot and 9pm is the latest time slot. Call us if you have any questions.

Age limits and requirements

Each game will require at least one player to be 16 years of age or older. For example, it is NOT allowed to have six 12 year old players on one team. The maximum amount of under 16 year old players is 5 players, not 6. If you arrive with a team too large while not following this rule, we will charge an extra amount before the game. The recommended minimum age of team members is 13. Younger children are welcome to play, with children as young as 4 having played our games. However, younger children usually don’t contribute to solving the puzzles, due to the complexity of the game (these puzzles are logic based). Please also be aware of the themes of the rooms, and assess if these themes are appropriate for your younger audiences. One room is zombie themed and the other room is played in the dark with flashlights. Feel free to ask us further questions if needed.
